Soon after a new Pope had been elected we had the
South African cardinal deciding that he
needed to explain or defend why catholic priests should not be punished for
molesting small children, here is what this man of the cloth and a man who
forgives your sins on behalf of Jesus when Jesus himself said “only he can give
forgiveness” or something to that effect:
Rome - South Africa’s Cardinal Wilfrid Fox Napier has sparked a new
controversy for the Catholic church after describing pedophilia as a psychological
"illness, not a criminal condition". Napier told the BBC that people who were themselves abused as children and then
abused others needed to be examined by doctors. In recent years, the Catholic
church has been dogged by scandals over clerical sex abuse and the institution
has come under fire for what many view as its inaction over the matter. In an
interview on BBC Radio 5 live, Cardinal Napier said pedophilia as "a
psychological condition, a disorder". "What
do you do with disorders? You've got to try and put them right. "If I - as a normal being -
choose to break the law, knowing that I'm breaking the law, then I think I need
to be punished."
The Durban cleric said he knew at least two priests, who became pedophiles after themselves being abused as children. "Now don't tell me that those people are criminally responsible like somebody who chooses to do something like that. I don't think you can really take the position and say that person deserves to be punished. He was himself damaged."But Barbara Dorries who works for the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests and was herself abused by one, told the BBC: "If it is a disease that's fine, but it's also a crime and crimes are punished, criminals are held accountable for what they did and what they do. "The bishops and the cardinals have gone to great lengths to cover these crimes to enable the predators to move on, to not be arrested, to keep the secrets within the church." Another victim of abuse told BBC: "I think it is appalling that we have a cardinal, a man at this level in the church that can still hold these views. He is totally ignoring the child."

We seem to have ,made an art out of excusing shitty behavior due to political correctness or not offend the wrongdoer. Is he a thief?, NO he
is a kleptomaniac, Is he a drunk ? NO he is an alcoholic, is he a peeping tom?
NO he is a voyeur, is he a heartless
killer, No he’s a psychopath. According to behavioral scientists the people that
suffer from these "conditions" are mentally ill and not in control of
their actions. I believe that
everyone has free will and can make a conscious decision to fight the urge or
give in to it.
I wonder when the cardinal became a specialist in psychological
"illnesses"? Probably the same place he specialised in marriage,
family affairs and safe sex. Perhaps the pedophiles can also claim sick leave
so they have more time to perpetrate their disease.... what a sadness that a
man in his position could adopt this stance. Historically, then, the Catholic
Church has 'spread the word of God, been deeply involved in education and
upheld moral behavior'.
Seems that Tiger Woods is dating a new lady in his life a 17
x World Cup championship skier by the name of Lindsey Vonn. Think it s match
made in heaven, She is good with Poles and Tigers good with holes. Wonder how
long before he will be seeking out fresh powder ?
Ok so the powers at bee want to declare war on
the “alcohol carnage” as they call it. The legal drinking age could rise to 21 and
zero limit for motorists is mooted, this over and above the Western Cape as
well as Gauteng wanting to ban the sale of alcohol on Sundays as
well.....................Church and Church would be the choices as we wind back
the clock to the 1970’s when those of you old enough to remember you woke up on
a Sunday and unless you went to church 3 times a day you sat and watched paint
dry, no sport, shops, movies..........”NADA”,
it was like the night before Christmas “nothing stirred”
Don’t get me wrong I am not saying that we
should not look at how we can reduce people dying from alcohol related crashes etc,
but we also have to remember that most deaths are actually PP’s “pissed
pedestrians” that we have all seen at one stage or another zig zagging along
a road somewhere.
Also Gabby is able at 16 and was able at 15 to
get served alcohol at a plethora of venues in PE, ranging from Bars, to
restaurants to sports venues, so you can raise the limit to 35 if it’s not
policed (and let’s be honest here we are great at making laws and not policing
them) then it’s worth squat.
I also have issues regards the limit being zero
as this is open to abuse by our less than honest police and traffic officials who can arrest
you just on the suspicion of you being drunk and not having to prove it, so i
would be a tad worried that many people would be put in situations that they do
not belong. The o.005ml/100g is a reasonable benchmarks that is used worldwide.
Kids smoke cause its cool, so lack of
advertising has in fact not stopped people from smoking, there were more
alcoholics during prohibition in the states than before, ban shit and people
want it, it’s not about taking the alcohol away its about people needing a
mindset change which in SA is no easy task. So we will have the rules and they
will not be policed properly and still
domestic violence will occur, road accidents will happen and people will buy
alcohol.
Plane trip, was interesting to Joburg on
Monday, you have all heard of the “Mile high” club , well I joined the “mile
Eye” club, needing to use the WC while 35000 feet above sea level I strode to
the back of the plane with the gazing eyes of the other passengers who you can
see are thinking “we know what you’re going to do” opened a toilet door that
said vacant (this means not in operation) opened it and lo and behold there is
some lady using the toilet, a tad awkward as you can imagine, so with a cheery
“so sorry, why didn’t you lock the Frikken door” i waited for the other one
that was occupied and hoped that the other lady did not come out of the toilet until i was safely ensconced in my own tiny WC. And if that was not enough on
takeoff from PE the pilot must have had an Astronaut flashback as he took off
down the runway and then just went straight up until he hit 35000 feet. Got to
stay with my folks and spend some quality time with them and also saw my sister
and Niece who is 13 weeks pregnant, was really really lekker to see them.
Gabby’s horse was stolen on Sunday last week,
yeah stolen, thought the day and age of horse thieves was left back in the wild
west when a bullet from a colt 45 was considered justice for stealing a man’s
source of transport or livelhod. Well the theft of Gabby’s horse was not so
dramatic but nevertheless he was used by
a person who keeps a horse at the same stables that Macdougal is stabled, see
ms the gent (who is chairperson of the local riding club) could not catch his
horse (because he rides it like an asshole) so he took Gabby’s horse instead,
and he used her tack as well, well as you can imagine Gabby was not happy and to
cut a long story short I doubt whether or not he will again use anyone’s horse
without permission.
Public holiday on Thursday ( Was human rights
day, used to be Sharpville day) had a lekker day but was weird going to work on
Friday, it felt like Monday. We went to see gabby and Stephen go for an out-ride, Tania and iIsat
on the beach at Sards for a while and bought a new microwave and then later
went to gym, so all in all not a bad day.
United Nations - The United Nations
says six billion of the world's seven billion people have mobile phones - but
only 4.5 billion have access to toilets or latrines. So the UN is launching a
global campaign to improve sanitation for the 2.5 billion people who don't have
it. UN Deputy secretary general Jan Eliasson calls their plight "a silent
disaster" that reflects the extreme poverty and huge inequalities in the
world today.
Super

positive side we did score more points against the Crusaders than the Bulls did

against Pakistan 3/2 after a comprehensive
win at Benoni.
